Eight Sales in a Year Ended the Lexus LC Hybrid

Lexus sold only eight LC hybrids in the U.S.

Lexus sold only eight LC hybrids in the U.S. during all of 2024, which is why the LC 500h vanished after the 2025 model year while the V8 carried on.

The hybrid used a V6-based system rated at 354 total horsepower, but buyers spending six figures on Lexus’s grand tourer overwhelmingly chose the naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 instead. That engine makes 471 horsepower at 7,100 rpm and 398 lb-ft of torque at 4,800 rpm, and it drives the rear wheels through a 10-speed automatic, so the 2026 LC lineup was V8-only in both body styles.

Kelley Blue Book reported the hybrid’s cancellation in July 2025, noting that Lexus sold eight copies of it in 2024 and only 65 LCs of any kind in June 2025. The whole LC line was a slow seller by then. Toyota Motor North America’s 2025 sales release shows 1,464 LCs sold in 2024 and 1,286 in 2025, so the hybrid accounted for about one of every 183 LCs Lexus delivered in its last full calendar year.

Lexus used the 2026 model year to send the V8 car off with a limited Inspiration Series. The coupe version is limited to 200 units for North America and comes in Smoke Matte Gray with a white and black interior, a carbon fiber roof, 21-inch matte black forged wheels, a carbon fiber rear spoiler, red brake calipers and Active Rear Steering. The convertible version is limited to 350 cars for the U.S. and wears a soft gray Lexus calls Wind with a saddle tan and white cabin, along with a limited-slip rear differential. The Bespoke Build program, which lets buyers pick their own wheels, spoiler, roof, trim and color, also carried over.

Kelley Blue Book listed the 2026 LC 500 coupe at $101,700 and the convertible at $109,200 including destination when the model year was announced. Lexus’s 2026 price sheet, dated June 19, 2026, now lists $103,400 for the coupe and $110,900 for the convertible.

The V8 car didn’t get much longer than the hybrid. The Car Guide reported in February that LC production would end in August 2026 and that the LC would not return after the 2026 model year, which closes the book on a car that launched as a 2018 model.

The Toyota Report Take

The LC 500h was a technically interesting car that answered a question nobody shopping for an LC was asking. People bought this grand tourer for its looks and its V8 sound, and a quieter, more efficient version priced in the same territory had no real audience. Eight sales in a year is about as clear a verdict as a market can deliver, and Lexus was right to spend its final LC year on the V8 cars buyers actually wanted.
