The Corolla Hatchback Holds the Line Under $25,000
The 2027 Toyota Corolla Hatchback still starts below $25,000, at $24,780 for the SE, even though the base car now gets a digital gauge cluster.
The 2027 Toyota Corolla Hatchback still starts below $25,000, at $24,780 for the SE, even though the base car now gets a digital gauge cluster. The XSE starts at $27,875.
On the SE, the old 4.2-inch information display gives way to a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, and an $800 SE Premium Package adds a 12.3-inch cluster and a 10.5-inch touchscreen in place of the standard 8-inch unit. The XSE gets both larger screens as standard, along with SofTex seats, heated front seats and an eight-way power driver’s seat.
Toyota announced the 2027 hatchback in mid-July, and the prices in autoevolution’s report exclude a $1,295 dealer processing and handling fee. Gear Patrol reported that the SE’s base price rose $600 from 2026.
| Trim | MSRP | With $1,295 fee |
|---|---|---|
| SE | $24,780 | $26,075 |
| XSE | $27,875 | $29,170 |

The lineup is smaller than it was, because the limited FX Edition is gone and only the SE and XSE remain, which MotorWeek counted as a drop from three trims to two. Some of the FX look lives on as options. The 18-inch gloss white wheels are now a Toyota accessory for both trims, and the new colors are Inked, Blueprint and Blueprint with a black roof.
Nothing changes under the hood. Both trims use the 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque, driving the front wheels through a CVT with 10 simulated steps for the paddle shifters, and PIX11 listed Toyota’s estimate for the SE at 32 mpg city, 41 highway and 35 combined. Every Corolla Hatchback comes with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The car is built at Toyota’s Tsutsumi plant in Aichi, Japan, and Toyota scheduled its arrival at dealers for this summer.

The Toyota Report Take
The SE has always been the value pick in this lineup, and the new 7-inch cluster removes its most obviously cheap-looking part, so the $600 increase buys something real. The Premium Package is the one to get if the budget allows, because it gives the SE the same screens as the XSE without the jump to the top trim. Losing the FX is a shame, but keeping the base price under $25,000 matters more to the people who actually buy this car.
